Baan Bangkhen | Retro museum cluster 20 minutes from IMPACT, entry just 20 THB

Baan Bangkhen is a cluster of small vintage-themed museums in the Bangkhen area along Phahonyothin Road, about 20 minutes by taxi from IMPACT. It's a good half-day escape for anyone who wants a nostalgic look at Thai life in the 1960s. The 5-rai property was created by owner Sompong Pisankitvanich from his personal passion for vintage collectibles, aiming to show younger generations what life was like before shopping malls and convenience stores.

The museum buildings are grouped by theme. Baan Por Luang displays photographs, commemorative coins, stamps and royal memorabilia related to the 70-year reign of King Rama IX, one of the few places where the public can view such items. Another highlight is Baan Coke, a Coca-Cola museum with bottles and collectibles gathered from around the world. There's also a garden with a climbable tree house, two vintage cars on display, and recreated old-style shops such as a clock shop, radio shop, Chinese apothecary, grocery store, classroom and barbershop.

A retro-styled cafe and an outdoor food centre furnished in 1950s-1960s style round out the visit. Baan Bangkhen is open 24 hours, though most stalls are fully open from 10am. Admission is just 20 THB, making it an easy half-day or afternoon stop.
